BONNAROO 2010 MUSIC WEEKEND
June 19th, 2010 § Leave a Comment
When I left the house at 4:30 AM on thursday June 10th to head out to Manchester my dad referred to the experience as “the Woodstock of your generation”. Half asleep I nodded in confirmation. Later though, at some parallel moment this somehow made it’s way into my conscious mind as I looked around and felt what he meant. Yesterday at lunch Ana exclaimed the same phenomenon remembering what it was like to be in a sea of don’t-worry-about-a-thing vibrations for four consecutive days while listening and dancing to the most phenomenal performances.
Now as we have stepped back into our “everyday lives” I relive the experience in my mind but also through the music we heard last weekend. So what follows is a playlist of recommended songs that somehow strike a note in my heart sayin’ Tenneeeesssssseeeeeeee!!!
ON THE ROAD AGAIN:

"Bonnaroo here we come!!!"
The way up was a long 14 to 15 hour drive. We passed through Orlando, Gainesville, Tallahassee, Macon, Atlanta, Chattanooga and finally arrived in Manchester around 8:30 PM minutes after nightfall. These were some of the songs on my ipod for the road:
1. Do You Realize? – The Flaming Lips
2. Dog Days Are Over – Florence + The Machine
3. Don’t Stop Believing – Journey
4. Friends – Band of Skulls
5. Georgia On My Mind – Ray Charles
6. Kids – MGMT
7. Lasso – Phoenix
8. Monsters – Hurricane Bells
9. Nothing from Nothing – Billy Preston
10. Paris is Burning – Ladyhawke
11. Pull My Heart Away – Jack Penate
12. Satellite Heart – Anya Marina
13. Sleeping With The Lights On – Teitur
14. Stop Crying Your Heart Out – Oasis
15. Use Somebody – Kings of Leon
16. Velvet – The Big Pink
17. The Violet Hour – Sea Wolf
18. You Oughta Know – Alanis Morissette
19. Young Adult Friction – The Pains of Being Pure at Heart
20. 40 Day Dream – Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros
BONNAROO 2010
June 18th, 2010 § 2 Comments
Well folks, Ana and I are putting together a TRAVELER’S GUIDE to BONNAROO to prep all Y’ALL for 2011.

KINGS OF LEON. Friday, June 11. Manchester, TN
TOP 10 TIPS for ASPIRING BONNAROOERS:
1. If you can fly, fly. If you must drive, come in groups of 4 min. (It’s a 14/15 hr drive from Miami)
2. Manchester, Tennesse is HOTTER THAN MIAMI during the day in mid-June. Be mentally and physically prepared for 90+ degrees. Bring water bottles, fans, maybe a tub filled with ice, and you’ll still be hot. The good news is the evenings are cooler and the air is filled with the earthy scents of the surrounding forests.
3. For all you food-conscious-green-guys there’s no WHOLE FOODS or Ahi Tuna Salads at Bonnaroo… Subway was the best we could do for when we got tired of eating sweet potato fries… oh wait, I’m still not tired of eating SWEET POTATO FRIES! PS: If you get hooked on them like I did, Big Pink on South Beach has an awesome version (ask for a side of Ranch to seal the deal).
4. The citizens of Tennessee are commonly referred to as TENNASSEANS – (like Crustaceans).
5. Unless you normally live like a neanderthal (a.k.a. caveman) CAMPING IS NOT AN OPTION. I know, I know, you are thinking we are too prissy to take the camping. For those of you who feel that way, I encourage you to camp and prove us wrong. No, really, we’ll talk about it when we get back to Miami after you have recovered…
